Always make sure to save your receipts. Follow these easy steps.

Set yourself up for hassle-free spending.

Saving receipts is important when using your debit card to make an FSA purchase, or when using your own personal funds to make a purchase that you may want to get reimbursed for later.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) requires us to make sure you only use your FSA account to purchase qualified medical expenses. Even if you successfully use your card, we may ask you to supply a receipt afterward in order to verify your purchase.

Follow these 3 easy tips and you'll be in good shape!

1. Always get an itemized receipt. Even if you don't think you'll need one, make sure to ask for a receipt at the time of purchase.

2. Check to make sure your receipt includes the following:

  • Your name
  • Provider or merchant name
  • Date of service
  • Service or item description
  • Total cost

3. Stay organized. Make it easy on yourself and take a photo of every receipt. You'll have a digital image available and, if asked for documentation, can easily upload your receipt through our mobile app.
